PURPOSE: To obtain a stable aqueous gel-like detergent composition, having high detergency for makeup or sebum foulings, low irritancy to the skin, excellent in massage feeling and rinsing properties and usable even in places at high temperatures and humidities. CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by suitably blending 1-50wt.% polyoxyethylene alkyl ester of the formula RCOO-(CH2 CH2 O)n -H [RCO is a 4-30C aryl; (n) is 1-50] with 0.1-5wt.% total amount of -carrageenan andκ- carrageenan at (5/1) to (1/5) weight ratio of the -carrageenan to theκ- carrageenan and 20-80wt.% water. Furthermore, 20-40wt.% polyol is suitably blended with a usually used detergent ingredient to regulate the viscosity to 10000-60000cP. The resultant composition is used for cleansing, etc., and especially usable as a face washing for removing makeup cosmetics.
