A process for the production of a beta -aminoalcohol 2-[3(S)-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyl]-N-tert.butyl-decahydro-(4aS,8aS)-isoquinoline-3(S)-carboxamide of the formula <IMAGE> 10 via the oxazolidinone corresponding to the aminoalcohol 10 which process comprises refluxing a sulphonic acid ester with a carboxamide in the presence of a base and a solvent.
