PURPOSE: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission for a four-wheel drive car to increase drive force distribution of rear wheels compared with front wheels. CONSTITUTION: In a toroidal type continuously variable transmission for a four-wheel drive car, 50% of the drive force of a first drive gear 24 is distributed to each of first and second output shafts 31 and 32. Meanwhile, 100% of the drive force of a second driven gear 25 is transmitted to the second output shaft 32. Thus, by coupling front wheels to the first output shaft 31 and coupling rear wheels to the second output shaft 32, the drive forces of the front wheels and the rear wheels is distributed approximately in a ratio of 1:3. When only the front wheels are raced and transmission torque is decreased, transmission torque to the second side gear 28 which is not raced is also reduced. However, since torque is transmitted to the rear wheels from a second driven gear 25, at least 50% drive force can be ensured with regard to the rear wheels. |
