PURPOSE: To provide a highly heat-resistant catalyst for the burning and decomposition of combustible gas, noxious gas and odoriferous gas with a capability of maintaining a high activity for a long time of use even at high temperature. CONSTITUTION: This highly heat-resistant catalyst consists of at least, one type of metal selected from platinum(Pt), palladium(Pd) and rhodium(Rh) or their oxides as active components, borne by a porous alumina carrier, and further, an enough amount of silica to cover the alumina carrier in 1 to 4 layers, borne on the metal or its oxide. The catalyst is used at a high temperature of at least, at 1000 deg.C. Thus it is possible to maintain a high activity in the catalyst even at a high temperature over 1000 deg.C. |
