摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled device capable of obtaining a light-on and a light-off simultaneously with an electric field having a one direction within an one picture element by exciting two ranges having different normal directions of a ferroelectric liquid crystal layer within the one picture element. CONSTITUTION:The normal directions of the liquid crystal layer in between the range 3 of left half part and the range 4 of right half part of the titled device which is used, for example, as spectacles of a stereotelevision is delayed by 35 deg.. The uniform orientation ranges which have the normal direction of the liquid crystal layer at a position clock-wisely delayed from a rubbing direction by about 13 deg. observing from each polyimide film sides are formed at a left eye range 3 and a right eye range 4 respectively by the injected liquid crystal, by the effect of rubbing treatment on the polyimide film, and the effect of transferring a phase of the liquid crystal from cholesteric state to smectic state. The light-off in the titled device in which the polarizing plates 7, 8 are provided at the entrance and exit sides of a light of the cell respectively is obtd. in case that the direction of the molecular orientation of the liquid crystal accords with the polarizing axis 8 of the one side of the polarizing plate, and the light-on of the prescribed device is obtd. in case that the direction of the molecular orientation of the liquid crystal is counter-clockwisely delayed from the polarizing axis 8 by 35 deg..</p>
