PURPOSE: To obtain an antimicrobial agent comprising a diazonium group- containing aromatic or heterocyclic compound as an active ingredient, having effects especially on microorganisms having multiple medicine resistance, not showing toxicity to animal cells, having new action mechanism. CONSTITUTION: This antimicrobial agent comprises a diazonium group-containing aromatic or heterocyclic compound (e.g. 3-diazonium-1,2,4-triazole of the formula) as an active ingredient. The compound is preferably obtained by a well-known method for reacting an amino compound such as 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole corresponding to the diazonium group with 1 equivalent to an excessive amount of sodium nitrite in the presence of an acid such as hydrochloric acid. In the case of administering the objective antimicrobial agent by intramuscular injection or intravenous injection, a daily dose is 0.5-500mg per adult. In the case of scattering it as an agrochemical, the antimicrobial agent is diluted 1,000-1,000,000 times. In the case of administering to an animal, preferably a dose is 0.01-1,000mg per weight in the case of oral administration and 0.001-200mg in intramuscular administration. |
