PURPOSE: To obtain the subject polymer enabling the control of stereoregularity, useful for automotive external parts such as bumpers, and including the polymers ranging from the polymers rich in flexibility to the highly hard polymers by employing a catalyst comprising a specific transition metal compound, an auxiliary catalyst component and a polyene compound. CONSTITUTION: Propylene or the mixture of the propylene with anα-olefin is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a transition metal compound of the group 4506 in the periodic table having at least a cyclopentadienyl skeleton [e.g. a compound of formula I (p is 0-2; M is a IV-VI group metal; R<1> -R<10> are H, a 1-20C alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an alkenyl, etc.; Q is a 1-20C hydrocarbon, a halogen or a heterogeneous atom-containing atomic group), concretely dimethylsilylenebis(2-methylbenzoylindenyl)zirconium dichloride], (B) an organic aluminum compound [e.g. a compound of formula II (R<12> is methyl, isobutyl, etc.; m is 4-100)] and/or a non-coordinated anion-containing compound, and (C) a polyene compound [preferably a (non)conjugated cyclic diene compound].
