PURPOSE: To perform control adapted to the specifications of a vehicle from a time immediately after the starting of an internal combustion by a method wherein decision of whether it is an A/T vehicle or an M/T vehicle is completed before the starting of the internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION: In an A/T vehicle, a neutral signal wire 32 is connected to the digital input circuit 17 of an ECU 10 from the middle of a wiring between a starter switch 35 and a neutral switch 33 and in an M/T vehicle, the neutral signal wire 32 is not connected. Thereby, when the neutral switch 33 is turned ON, the A/T vehicle is brought into ground 0V (the terminal voltage of a battery 41) through a starter 36 and before the starting of an internal combustion engine and when the neutral switch 33 is turned OFF, it is brought into an open state. Through this constitution, the ECU 10 decides whether a vehicle is an A/T vehicle or an M/T vehicle by detecting the terminal voltage of the neutral signal wire 32 even before the starting of the internal combustion engine, and performs control adapted to the specifications of a vehicle from a time right after the starting of the internal combustion engine. |
