PURPOSE: To realize a low-NOX combustion device applicable on a small-size combustion engine. CONSTITUTION: In a two-stage combustion device, in which combustion air or fuel is supplied by dividing it into primary combustion and secondary combustion to effect combustion, cooling pipes 15, 16 are arranged in respective primary combustion chamber 8 and a secondary combustion chamber 12 while combustion gas is cooled in two steps of the primary combustion chamber 8 and the secondary combustion chamber 12. Accordingly, the combustion gas is cooled not quickly in one step but by some degree in a primary combustion area, and secondarily cooled while securing the temperature of gas and advancing the reaction of CO→CO2 in a secondary combustion area. According to this method, the effect of reducing a combustion gas temperature due to cooling is added to the two-stage combustion while restricting the generation of CO whereby the generation of NOX can be restricted in a very low level.
