PURPOSE: To produce a steel sheet excellent in side wall breaking resistance and suitable for a DTR can by specifying the compsn. composed of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Al, N, O, Nb and Fe and forming its structure of ferritic phases and finely dispersed carbides. CONSTITUTION: This steel sheet has a componental compsn. contg., by weight, >0.02 to 0.1% C, >0.03% Si, 0.4 to 1.2% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.02%, preferably 0.015% S, 0.02 to 0.1% Sol. Al, <=0.007% N, <=0.005%, preferably 0.0025% Total- O, (3.0×10<-4> )/C<=Nb<=0.03%, 10C+Mn>=0.8%, S×O<=4.0×10<-5> , preferably 2.5×10<-5> , and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and has a structure formed of ferritic phases and finely dispersed carbides, and in which microcracking is hardly generated even if being applied with thinning of about >=30%.
