PURPOSE: To always provide appropriate lip tense force even when inner pressure is raised, by providing a lip holding part by being projected in the direction opposite to a sealed object, and also providing a seal lip brought in contact with a shaft by being folded back in the direction of the sealed object on the inner circumferential surface of the lip holding part. CONSTITUTION: A oil seal 11 is formed of a metallic reinforcing ring 12 and a seal member 13 to cover the ring 12, and the setting direction of the metallic reinforcing ring 12 is inversely directed. A seal member 13 is formed of a lip holding part 14 extended on the outside of a housing 17, and a back surface part 15 and an outer circumferential part 19 respectively fixed to the metallic reinforcing ring 12, a lip seal 16 extended on the inside of the housing 17 is formed on the inner circumferential surface of the lip holding part 14, and the end part of the seal lip 16 is brought in contact with a shaft 18. At this time, force in the direction by which the lip holding part 14 is extended and force in the direction by which the seal lip 16 is pressed against the shaft 18 are set to be to the same extent so that appropriate lip tense force can be always obtained even when pressure is raised. |
