<p>PURPOSE: To provide a flame detector which is capable of discriminating artificial light and the flame of a fire by an inexpensive constitution in which a color TV camera is used. CONSTITUTION: An image pickup means 2 such as a CCD camera picks up an image within a prescribed monitoring range through an image pickup optical system 1 and outputs a video signal. A location detection means 3 binarizes this video signal, decides whether an object is flame or not from the time series pattern of the obtained binary signal, and detects the location of flame according to the decision result. A focusing means 5 detects the focusing location at the location of the detected flame, controls a focusing optical system driving means 4 and performs a focusing. A focus location detection means 6 detects the distance from the detected focusing location to flame.</p> |
