COLOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To uniformly control the gap and to improve productivity of a color STN-LCD for which high accuracy is required. CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display element has a color filter 2 and a color filter protective layer 3 formed on one glass substrate of a pair of substrates having transparent electrodes 4 and insulating layers 5. A spacer comprising a core 6 and a buffer layer 7 of a polymer material around the core is used. The hardness of the buffer layer at 100-170 deg.C is specified to 0.6-1.0 time as high a hardness of the color filter substrate.
