PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device the usable time of which is prolonged by sufficiently charging the power source of the device by means of a solar battery panel without newly increasing an area for setting the solar battery panel on the set surface of a liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION: The transmission type liquid crystal panel 1 displaying the picture of a television, etc., is set in a window part 6b formed on the housing 6a of the liquid crystal display device 6, and a light diffusing plate 3 and lamps 2 and 2a on the side surfaces of the plate 3 are set as a backlight part for making a display screen bright and easy-to-view behind the panel 1. A liquid crystal shutter 4 for transmitting and intercepting external light to/from the solar battery panel 5 on the rear side and the solar battery panel 5 generating electro-motive force by light are set behind the light diffusing plate 3. |
