PURPOSE: To provide a tandem color image forming device with high quality, reduction in size and high productivity at a low cost by minimizing the storage medium capacity of an image information storage means, regardless of the adoption of a tandem constitution and eliminating the fluctuation of an image forming position and color slipping and unevenness in each color image, caused by the eccentricity of a roll, regardless of the use of a belt-like photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION: When an exposure-to-transfer distance Li in the belt-like photoreceptor of the i-th image forming unit after the first one is set to obtain Li =Li-1 +Δli-1 +(a), with respect to an exposure-to-transfer distance Li-1 in the belt-like photoreceptor just before and the distanceΔli-1 between the transfer positions of the belt-like photoreceptor just before and the image forming unit. When (a) is of a positive value, the image information storage means for storing the image information corresponding to (a) is interposed in the image forming unit on the upstream side from the (i-1)th image forming unit. When (a) is of a negative value, an image information storage means for storing the image information corresponding to (a) is interposed in the image forming unit on the downstream side from the i-th image forming unit.
