PURPOSE: To easily transmit/receive an optical signal by a high SN ratio and to attain efficient multiplex optical communication by executing convolutional operation by using a properly set orthogonal code string. CONSTITUTION: An output (signal) from a host 101 is modulated by a code (i) to be an orthogonal code string outputted from a modulation part 102 and the modulated signal is converted into an optical signal by an LED 103 to be a light emitting element. A bar code, a PN code or the like is used for the orthogonal code string to be used as the code (i). The host 101, the modulation part 102, the LED 103, etc., constitute respective elements of an optical transmission part. The optical signal transmitted from the LED 103 is detected by a PD 104 to be a photodetecting element, a demodulation part 105 executes convolutional operation for the detected optical signal and the code (i) to be the orthogonal code string to obtain the original data string. The data are sent to a printer 106 to print out them. |
