PURPOSE: To measure the wearing characteristic of a thin film material and, at the same time, to digitize the wearing state of a sample in real time during tests by comparing the initial picture of the rear surface of the sample with sampled picture signals and finding the separation rate of the sample from the data. CONSTITUTION: A sample S constituted by forming a thin film on a substrate is linearly moved by means of a sliding device (c) while its surface is pressed with the indenter (a) of a loading device (b). Before starting tests, an image pickup means (d) picks up the image of the rear surface of the sample S by dividing the picture into a plurality of picture elements and a picture storing section (e) stores the initial picture. When the tests are started, a sampling section (f) fetches picture signals from the means (d) in prescribed periods and a discriminating section (g) discriminates the positions of the picture elements which largely change than a reference value does by comparing the picture signals fetched from the means (d) with the stored (e) initial picture. A position storing section (h) stores the discriminated positions of the picture elements and an arithmetic section (i) finds the rate of separation by using the discriminated results of the section (g) and positional data stored in the section (h) whenever picture signals are sampled. |
