PURPOSE: To prevent the shift range displayed on a shift range indicator from being brought into discordance with the traveling direction of a motor car. CONSTITUTION: An electronic control unit 10 recognizes a shift range selected by operating a shift range selector 11 by a driver, and controls an inverter 6 in response to the recognized range to forward or reversely rotate a motor 1 and stop it, thereby switching the traveling direction of a motor driven vehicle V. The shift range indicator 12 for displaying the selected range is controlled to be fired based on the range recognized by the unit 10. The rotating direction of the motor 1 and the firing of the indicator 12 are conducted based on the range recognized by the unit 10, thereby preventing the discordance between the both. |
