PURPOSE: To display an additional image in a favorable position with respect to the depicting coordinates of a map image. CONSTITUTION: This position display device, which displays a predetermined additional image by superimposing it on a certain position of a map image, comprises a storage means 12 in which the amount of displacement by which the display of the additional image is displaced from a reference display point in the additional image is stored together with additional image information corresponding to the additional image; a recognition means 7 for recognizing the depicting coordinates of the additional image in the map image supplied; a display position displacement means 7 by which, when the additional image to be depicted is displayed in the map image, the additional image information corresponding to the additional image is accessed from the storage means 12 together with the amount of displacement corresponding to the additional image and the display position of the additional image is displaced, by the amount of displacement, from the depicting coordinates of the additional image which are recognized by the recognition means 7; and a display means 13 which displays the additional image by superimposing it on the map image while the reference display point in the additional image is made to coincide with the display position displaced by the display position displacement means 7. |
