PURPOSE: To provide a navigation system which provides convenience to users by preventing the switching around of CD-ROMs during use. CONSTITUTION: This navigation system comprises a positioning means; an input device 26; a displaying part 21; a storage medium 19A storing map data for an area which the user generally uses; a storage medium 19B having an area different from the area owned by the storage medium 19A and storing map data associated with the storage medium 19A; an accumulation memory 20 storing the map data stored on the storage medium 19B; and a CPU 16 which causes the map area in the storage medium 19B that is designated by the user through the control of the input device 26 to be stored in the accumulation memory 20 in advance and which, if a moving body has moved out of the area corresponding to the storage medium 19A, extracts map data for a predetermined area from the map data stored in the accumulation memory 20 and outputs it to the displaying part 21 together with the current position. |
