PURPOSE: To restrict the deterioration of a fuel electrode by carbon monoxide, and provide a long service life of a fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: In a reformation device 1 for generating oxygen-rich reformed gas for a fuel cell from material fuel, a mixer-diluter 2 is connected as a post- stage of the reformation device 1, a fuel electrode 3a of a fuel cell 3 is connected as a post-stage of it, and an inactive gas supply part 4 to supply inactive gas is connected to the mixer-diluter 2. Material fuel supplied to the reformer 1 is generated as hydrogen-rich reformed gas to be supplied to the mixer-diluter 2, and it is mixed with diluting gas such as nitrogen gas supplied from the inactive gas supply part 4 to become fuel gas be supplied to the fuel electrode 3a. Because carbon monoxide in the fuel gas is diluted to such a low concentration that it will not act as catalyst poison, the deterioration of the electrode by carbon monoxide can be restricted, thereby a long service life of the cell can be achieved. |
