PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality image by forming a conductive resin layer containing a resin and a solid lubricant on a metal cylinder of a developer carrier so that at least the resin itself in the resin layer has conductivity. CONSTITUTION: The coating layer 1 formed on a cylindrical base body 5 contains at least a solid lubricant 3 in a conductive binder resin 2, and if necessary, contains spherical particles 4. The spherical particles are preferably particles having 0.3-30μm average particle size. In this method, melt sticking of a developer to the carrier is prevented by the solid lubricant 3 so that the developer is triboelectrically charged in a good state on the carrying body. By using the conductive binder resin 2, the coating layer 1 can be made conductive without using a conductive pigment. The solid lubricant 3 used is, for example, molybdenum disulfide, boron nitride, mica, graphite, graphite fluoride, silver-niobium selenide, calcium chloride-graphite, talc, etc. |
