Turbocharger for IC engine

摘要

The turbocharger is directly coupled to an electric motor (3) whose torque is controlled w.r.t. several parameters including the inlet manifold pressure between the turbocharger and the engine, the throttle setting, engine speed, engine retardation, engine starting mode etc. The motor torque reinforces the drive generated by the exhaust flow and operates in a programmed pattern. The turbocharger electric drive is activated when the ignition is switched on to provide turbocharging for the starting sequence. The electric drive is switched off if the engine does not run after a set time of operating the starter motor. For engine braking the motor operates as a generator for regenerative braking.
