Paraffin, wax and base oil prodn. from plastics

Prodn. of paraffins, waxes and base oils from polyolefinic plastics and mixts. contg. polyolefinic plastics comprises thermally decomposing the plastics at 500 deg C using a carrier medium. The novelty is that the starting products are decomposed in a 1st depolymerisation step under normal pressure at 320-400 deg C in a carrier medium to a liq. molten mixt. of average mol. wt. of 5000-15000 g/mol. The decomposed starting materials are cracked in a 2nd depolymerisation step under a pressure of 0.005-0.4 bar at 400-500 deg C. The vapour products are removed from the 2nd depolymerisation step by condensing. The condensed cracked products are then worked up according to known processes to paraffins, waxes and base oils.
