<p>Disclosed is an improved user interface for a data processing system, particularly well suited for portable systems configured for donning by a user. A preferred embodiment includes a multifunction wristwatch (14) having a limited display (20) and a single switch (22) for switching between a display state and a data state. Once in the data state, data input, editing and retrieval may be effectuated by deliberate user motion actuation (28) or at least one non-contact sensor (24), for example of the light sensitive or sonic sensitive variety, in accordance with displayed menu options and functions. System logic advantageously may include help messages as well as an edit facility with integral character data sets individually selectable by rotating and non-rotating methods and combinations thereof to facilitate data input.</p> |
