<p>An intensity acoustic calibrator (110) is disclosed including at least two waveguide channels (130, 134). A speaker (180, 184) adjacent each waveguide channel emits sound to develop a standing wave at the opposing end of the channel. The test microphone (138, 160) is positioned in the calibrator so as to be in acoustic communication with the waveguide channel so that the microphone can be calibrated respective to the standing wave. By having two separate waveguide channels (130, 134) and speakers (180, 184), the test microphones can be subjected to arbitrary magnitude changes and phase differentials. Additionally, a reference microphone (150, 172) may be positioned adjacent each waveguide channel to monitor the sounds generated by the speakers to ensure that the speakers are emitting sounds at the desired magnitude, phase, etc.</p> |
