A sign (2) with one or two sign panels (5) has according to the invention a frame which is constituted by an elongate profile (1), which at the inside (7) is provided with two grooves (8, 9) which may each receive the edge of one sign panel (5). Moreover, the profile (1) is provided with a T-shaped slot on its outer side. The sign (2) may thus be constructed with far fewer parts than known signs. The T-shaped slot makes a laterally displaceable mounting of the sign (2) possible and may be used for securing lids (22) over access openings (21) to the interior of the sign. Furthermore, the slot makes a torsionally stable mounting possible by use of few mounting means, assembly of the frame using very few parts and lifting of the sign by simple and quick means.
