Document examination by confocal laser microscope

摘要

The document examination is used to provide legibility of unreadable symbols of a text of a document, especially hand written text on papyrus, parchment, etc. The microscopic examination is carried out by laser scanning. The focussed laser beam is guided in a raster along X, Y and Z coordinates. Thus the light reflected from each point and emitted by fluorescence from the scanned document is detected and video signals generated from individual points in a time series. The video signals are combined into pixels, sync. with scanning, to x,y surface image, with z coordinate parameters (depth).
