Rf superconductive quantum interference device (SQUID)

A washer SQUID (C) is attached to a dielectric resonator (8) of a defined geometric form, such as a cylinder or cube, such that at least one frequency mode is coupled to the SQUID. The cylindrical resonator shown has a diameter of 8 mm and a height of 4 mm. It is of great permittivity and stands on a base plate (A) of smaller permittivity, which serves to further concentrate the energy in the resonator. The coupling between the resonator and the transmission wires of the read-out electronics is effected through antennae to each side of, but close to, the resonator. Leads of 50 ohms can be used.
