Light source add-on module for atomic absorption spectrometer

The add-on module is for a spectrometer with a hollow cathode type spectral lamp (11) as its first source, an atomizer (12) and detector system (13,14,30). A second light source is added in the form of a laser diode (20), with mirror (15A) and detector (31). An adjustment system (15) allows selection by deflection of the light from either source through the atomizer to the detector. The light path from the laser diode to the atomizer can be adjusted mechanically. The mechanical adjustment system include the light concentrating mirror and a device for correcting the position of a light guide fibre.
