The bearing cage has opposed pairs of circular sectors (1). They have interposed crossbar sectors (3) equi-spaced round the circumference to form needle roller pockets (4) between adjacent crossbars. They use the opposing side faces of the bar sectors as roller guiding surfaces (6) equipped with outside (7) and inside (8) diameter claws to hold the rollers within their pockets. The cage acts as outside diameter guide system and each crossbar is stepped on its top surface (11) to run radially inwards relative the top outside diameter guide face so the diameter claws fit onto this stepped sector. In the event of an inside diameter guiding cage, the outside diameter guide surface is arranged on the inside of the cage and each crossbar sector is stepped on the inside so as to radiate outwards to take the inside diameter claws on the stepped sectors as specified.
