ABS braking system for vehicle

The ABS system monitors the braking effects of the front- and rear wheels and initiates the pulsing of the brake pressure at the onset of wheel lock. The brake pressure on the rear wheels is increased, from the start of braking, at a programmed rate to the selected level. At the onset of ABS control for the front wheels the rear brake pressure is increased at a second programmed rate until the onset of ABS control for the rear brakes. The pulse length and level for the ABS control is varied for optimum brake effect. The rear brake control monitors the positive- and negative accelerations of the rear wheels, the vehicle acceleration etc. to calculate the optimum brake pattern.
