Kidney-shaped pockets (6) inserted in the elastomer body (4). They are designed to reduce local peak stresses and are fitted at the ends of the intermediate part (5) in the upper part of the body. The shape of the pockets optimises stress reduction and the stiffness and at the same time guides the intermediate part in a design in which the core (2), the outside casing (3) and the intermediate part are made from metal or plastics etc. The required stiffness is thus achieved in both (x) and (z) directions during the service life of the bearing.
