Plastic drawer with double bottom produced by injection moulding

Double bottom (22, 24) of a drawer, injection moulded from plastic in one piece, is reinforced by ribs (26) spaced over the bottom and connecting the bottom parts. A hollow body is formed which is in one piece with the drawer frame (12). The upper part (22) of the drawer bottom is grooved on its upper surface with grooves running parallel to the direction of the ribs. Also claimed is a method of mfr. of the drawer in which a base die with projecting ribs is placed in an injection mould and molten plastic is injected. The base die is withdrawn during simultaneous injection of pressurised gas into the mould cavity, forming gas bubbles between the ribs while webs of molten plastic are drawn out into reinforcing ribs.
