The invention relates to a method and a device for cleaning a protective tube (6), in which an ultraviolet light-emitting lamp used for treating fluid passed along said protective tube is disposed. During said cleaning a cleaning means (13) is moved along said protective tube. During the movement of the cleaning means along the protective tube a cleaning fluid is supplied to a chamber (7) surrounding the protective tube, which has been recessed in the cleaning means.
