PURPOSE:To reduce the sound generated when a color transfer layer is released from a base sheet at the time of transfer, by interposing an easily releasable layer composed of a specific material between the base sheet and the color transfer layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording material is constituted by a base sheet, the easily releasable layer composed of polyvinyl octadecylcarbamate or polyethyleneimine octadecylcarbamate laminated to the base sheet and the color transfer layer containing a dye or pigment and a thermoplastic resin or an oligomer thereof laminated to the easily releasable layer. Both of a heat- meltable release layer and a heat-meltable adhesive layer can be formed from a mixture containing an amide or imide compound or wax and a thermoplastic resin. The amide or imide compound or wax pref. has a m.p. of 50-100 deg.C. The dye or pigment is contained in the color transfer layer along with a binder composed of a thermoplastic resin or an oligomer thereof and, as the thermoplastic resin or the oligomer thereof, for example, an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, polyvinyl butyral or polyethylene is used. |
