Curable epoxy resin casting materials contain: (a) aromatic or cycloaliphatic epoxy resin with more than one 1,2-epoxide gp./mol. on average; (b) a suitable amt. of hardener; (c) a toughening agent; and (d) finely divided Al oxide, coated with a silane of formula R4-(n+1)Si(OR')n+1 (I). In (I): R = 1-4C alkyl, Ph, glycidyloxypropyl, mercaptopropyl or aminopropyl; R' = 1-12C alkyl; and n = 0 or 1-3.
