Adsorption process for the production of pressurised oxygen

Prodn. of pressurised impure oxygen is carried out in a plant having two adsorbers, each of which is subjected, during a cycle, to (a) recompression from atmos. pressure (Pa) by co-current supply of compressed air and counter-current supply of gas from the other adsorber operating in phase (c); (b) prodn. by compressed air supply and oxygen extn. up to a max. cycle pressure (PM) of not less than 1.9 x 10<5> Pa; (c) co-current decompression by connection to the other adsorber operating in phase (a); and (d) regeneration by counter-current depressurisation down to atmos. pressure (Pa) and counter-current elution with the produced oxygen. The novelty is that the first part of step (d) comprises pure depressurisation (T4-T5) without counter-current gas supply, elution (T5-T6) only being carried out at the end of step (d).
