FIELD: mechanical engineering, boiler construction, ship building. SUBSTANCE: method involves making combined pipe length from pipe cuts of different diameter and composition, with each cut being assembled from pipe cuts in accordance with predetermined model; comparing produced portions with respective models; cutting excessive parts from inner portions at their both sides and from outer portions at their side adjacent to area of connection with inner portions; measuring portion of assembled pipe with length equal to that of combined length of article; cutting off excessive parts. Apparatus has pipe length measuring device, drive reversing roller conveyor, pipe front end detector, precise length measuring sensor, n coarse length measuring sensors mounted on conveyor. Pipe front end detector and precise length measurement sensor are positioned in front of cutting machine cut off line and coarse length measuring sensors are positioned behind cut off line in equally spaced relation. Detector and sensors are connected to computing device. EFFECT: increased efficiency, wider operational capabilities, enhanced reliability in operation. |
