摘要 PURPOSE:To enlarge a write-operation margin by forming a write electrode in a bending form among respective discharge maintaining electrode couples crossing each other. CONSTITUTION:When pulse voltage exceeding discharge starting voltage is applied to a write discharge cell Wc-s while generating write discharge, negative charge is stored on the surface of a dielectric layer 44 corresponding to the write discharge cell Wc-s and positive charge is stored on the surface of the dielectric layer 44 corresponding to the discharge maintaining cell Sc-s adjacent thereto, respectively, while electrons and electric charge spread out and extend along the write electrode 45 and the discharge maintaining electrode 42 respectively. Thereby, the electrons extending along the write electrode 45 and spreading out to the discharge cell Wc-n are impeded in their spread by the write electrode 45 in which the length of the write electrode between the adjacent write cells is lengthened by bending. Further, a shielding effect against an electric field generated between these adjacent discharge maintaining electrode couples is exhibited by the write electrode part 45 lying between the adjacent two sets of discharge maintaining electrode couples, thus to enlarge an operation margin.
