A loading bay safety structure (1), comprises a fence (2) for obstructing loading of the bay (3), the fence (2) being mounted in a pivotable manner so that it may be pivoted about an axis (13) into and out of positions whereby loading of the bay (3) is prevented or, alternatively, permitted. Handles (22) are provided for manual manipulation of the fence (2). The bay (3) has a floor (5) comprising a wooden platform. The fence (2) has a substantially U-shaped plan form and comprises front and side (8) frame structures with bracing (11). The sides of the fence are demountably attachable to the front of the fence, e.g. by bolts. The front is covered with metallic mesh (12). |
