<p>PURPOSE: To provide a preheating apparatus that applies beforehand uniform heat melting in processes of carton forming and filling to the surface of a thermoplastic resin layer of a paper container having a gable-shaped top for housing liquid such as fruit juice, refined sake, water or the like in order to facilitate heat sealing on parts of the paper container where temporary folding is made for hermetical sealing to be made by heat sealing. CONSTITUTION: In a preheating apparatus that blows hot air to parts 25 for hermetical sealing by heat sealing on a paper container 20 for liquid having a gable-shaped top made of laminated paper made by laminating a thermoplastic resin layer to the surface thereof and applies heat melting beforehand to the surface of the thermoplastic resin layer 21, a heating box 10 that descends to a position near the parts 25 to be sealed hermetically by heat sealing of the paper container 20 for liquid is provided.
