PURPOSE: To obtain an optical recording medium capable of corresponding to CD standards by providing a recording layer containing coloring matter being phthalocyanine coloring matter having at least one specific group on a substrate. CONSTITUTION: A recording layer containing coloring matter is provided on a substrate. The coloring matter is phthalocyanine coloring matter having at least one group represented by formula (wherein Y is an atom bonded to a phthalocyanine ring and an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, Z is an atomic group necessary for completing a carbon ring or heterocyclic ring along with a carbon atom, A1 is a monovalent substituent more bulky than a hydrogen atom and X1 and X2 are a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent or mutually bonded to form a single bond). The solubility of the phthalocyanine coloring matter to ethylene glycol monoethyl ether (ethy cellosolve) at 25 deg.C is 1-10wt.%. |
