PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an optimum clearance by providing a means for selectively interconnecting rocker arms to rotate them in accordance, and a means for adjustably limiting the extent of relative pivoted movement between the rocker arms. SOLUTION: This rocker arm assembly 14 is provided with an internal arm assembly 18 engageable with a valve actuating cam 20 of an engine, and an external arm 22 engageable with a poppet valve 24. An offset spring 26 is provided to offset the internal arm to be engaged with the cam 20 and to offset the external arm to be engaged with a plunger 30 of a stationary rush adjuster 32, and a latch member 28 is provided to latch the internal and external arms together to specify an active mode of control function. An adjusting assembly is provided with a bolt 102 received through spring receiving elements 44, 56. The bolt 102 functions to determine the center of the spring 26. A valve control mechanism low in manufacturing cost can thus be obtained. |
