PURPOSE: To obtain a new carcinostatic antibiotic having carcinostatic activity against a human cancerous cell, especially a human carcinoma colli uteri cell. CONSTITUTION: This carcinostatic antibiotic is a compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are each H or N-cyclohexylcarbonylalanyl), hydroxymycotrienin A or hydroxymycotrienin B or their pharmaceutically permissible salt. For example, hydroxymycotrienin A has the following physical and chemical properties. Property: yellow powder. Molecular formula: C36 H48 N2 O9 . Molecular weight: 652. Specific rotatory power: [α]<22> D+190 deg. (C 0.1, MeOH). Mass spectrometric analysis FAB-MS (m/z): 675 (M+Na)<+> , 651 (M-H). Solubility: soluble in CHCl2 , MeOH, acetone, pyridine, DMSO and slightly soluble in water and hexane. A weakly acidic substance, etc. The compound of formula I is obtained by culturing a bacterium (e.g. BMJ958-62F4 strain) belonging to the genus bacillus, capable of producing hydroxymycotrienin A or hydroxymycotrienin B and collecting the antibiotic from the culture product. |
