The invention involves a process for making photographic recording materials for radiography having comparable sensitivity and high visual resolution in the resulting x-ray images, whether used with green-emitting or blue-emitting intensifying screens. The invention also describes a process for making x-ray images by the use of such recording materials. The invention regulates the ratio of the silver halide coating's blue to green sensitivity by the addition of an aliphatic 2-amino-1-thio compound of Formula I: <IMAGE> Formula I wherein R1=alkyl of 1 to 5 carbons, aryl, alkylacyl of 1 to 5 carbons, H or arylacyl; R2, R3, R4, R5=H, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbons or COR7; R6=H or alkyl of 1 to 5 carbons, R7=OH, NHR8, or O-R10 where R10 is an alkyl of 1 to 5 carbons; R8, R9=H or alkyl of 1 to 5 carbons; R1 and R6 taken together represent one to three methylene groups bridging the nitrogen and the sulfur; and R1 and R6 can be replaced by cyclization between the nitrogen atom and the sulfur atom involving one to three optionally substituted methylene groups.
