PURPOSE: To provide a sintered hard alloy for impact resistant tool, having excellent impact resistance and wear resistance well balanced with each other. CONSTITUTION: In this sintered hard alloy, a hard phase consists of >=95% WC and the balance at least one kind among the carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides of the group IVa, Va, and VIa elements (excluding W) of the periodic table and a binding phase consists of at least one element among Co, Ni, and Fe and comprises 5-30wt.% of the sintered hard alloy. Further, this alloy is a sintered hard alloy for impact resistant tool, in which the grain diameter of WC in this alloy has the hollowing characteristics: the grains with 4.5-7.5μm grain diameter and the grains with 1.5-4.5μm grain size are regulated to 50-75% and 15-40%, respectively (as the area ratio when the total WC is 100%); the ratio of (the total area of WC of 4.5-7.5μm) to (the total area of WC of 1.5-4.5μm) is regulated to 2/1 to 5/1; and the area ratio of WC grains of <=1μm grain diameter is regulated to <=3%.
