The invention provides acicular electroconductive tin oxide fine particles which has a mean diameter of 0.005-1 mu m and a mean length of 0.05-10 mu m and an aspect ratio of 3 or higher. The invention further provides a process for producing the acicular electroconductive tin oxide fine particles, which comprises firing a starting material containing tin, silicon and an alkali metal halide at 700 DEG -1200 DEG C. and removing soluble salts from the resulting fired product.
