PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new enzyme whose activity is not neutralized by an antibody neutralizing the activity of a human 85kDa phospholipase A2 enzyme and useful for the development of antiinflammatory medicines, ichorrhemia medicines, etc., by culturing a human cell, crushing the cultured cells and subsequently treating the crushed cells with an anion exchange resin. CONSTITUTION: Human cells are cultured in the presence (absence) of a stimulating agent and subsequently crushed. The obtained dissolution product is fractionated to obtain a protein solution not containing cell residues, organellas and cellular membranes. The protein solution is brought into an anion exchange resin capable of binding to phospholipase A2 contained in the protein solution, and the adsorbed substances are successively eluted with elution solutions successively increased in the ionic strengths. A fraction having a phospholipase A2 activity and eluted after the secretion 1 type and II type phospholipases A2 and before a 85kDa cytoplasmic type phospholipase A2 is collected to obtain the new phospholipase A2 enzyme which has a mol.wt. of 60000±6000 (a gel filtration method) and whose activity is not neutralized with an antibody neutralizing the activity of the human 85kDa phospholipase A2.
