PURPOSE: To obtain the subject cosmetic, having a high protecting ability against ultraviolet rays and high stability and excellent in water repellency and persistence by combining a particle of a specific double oxide having a perovskite type structure or a solid solution thereof with an acrylic acid-based polymer. CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic is obtained by using (a) a particle which is a double oxide having a perovskite type structure of the formula ABO3 (A and B are each a metallic element; O is oxygen atom) or its solid solution and has <=1μm volume-average particle diameter and 150-300Åcrystal size measured by the X-ray diffractometry with (b) an acrylic acid-based polymer in combination. A in the component (a) is preferably selected from Ca, Sr, Ba, Pb and rare earth elements and B in the component (a) is preferably selected from Ti, Zr and Hf. The component (a) preferably has >=0.6 average absorbance in an ultraviolet region at 250-380nm when measuring a reflection spectrum by using a tablet sample or >=85% reflectance at 500nm. A protecting agent against ultraviolet rays and further a water-soluble polymer may be added to the system.
